This work addresses the feelings that an aging amateur athlete experienced after sustaining a serious injury. Did their ego cause them to push their body too far? Is it fair for their family to struggle with the loss of their usual contributions during their recovery? Is there something bigger at play in the universe – is this injury punishment for their transgressions outside of basketball?
